Gallatin School Living Centre Transitional & Permanent Housing
The Gallatin School Living Centre is a 30-unit housing and service complex located in the historic former Gallatin Elementary School that provides City Mission clients with safe and affordable long-term housing along with support services. The beautiful structure is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Five units are transitional in nature, specifically designed for families, eighteen are SRO (Single Room Occupancy) permanent units for single adults, and the remaining seven are Permanent Supportive Housing Units. Each apartment is remodeled, fully furnished, and has its own kitchen and bath.
Residents of the transitional apartments sign a 6-month lease. During their stay, they participate in a comprehensive program of services designed to move them towards self sufficiency. Tenants must pay one third of their income towards the rent, Tenants typically contribute one-third of their income towards the rent, however no one is turned away due to the inability to pay.
Gallatin School Living Centre also houses the administrative and service offices of City Mission, a large community room, two laundry areas, and two lounge areas. A play area for children is also located in the Gallatin facility.
